It's simple: if you're online and you're not looking out for your privacy, you don't have any. Whether or not you are in the broom closet, if you want to keep your business private, you will have to take steps to protect yourself.

Introduction:
The internet is made so easy nowadays that it's easy to forget what a wild place it can be. Install the software, dial up, and you're set: just point and click your way around the WWW. But the internet can also be a dangerous place, especially if 'staying in the broom closet' is important to your wellbeing. It is so easy to make the simplest mistakes that can have far-reaching consequences. For those of you who do not want others to know where you go online, want to keep your credit cards from being stolen, want to keep people from reading your email, stealing your passwords or hijacking your computer to attack someone else, I've written these articles for you. Please note that this information is not "everything you need to know", it's just FYI.

Oh just one more thing: Please don't email me with support questions about your computer. I'm stating for the record that these pages are for information only, and if you need help you'll have to follow the links and check out the help pages on your computer. I won't answer you. You'll just have to RTFM (Read The Friggin Manual). I just don't have the time. But I do hope you find this useful.
